WheelDash is independently developed and everything is currently available free of charge. The Garmin versions are free and open source, and they will remain so. The Amazfit version is also free during its beta phase. Its source code will be released once active development is complete. Donating does not unlock features or give anyone preferential treatment.

Why donations help

WheelDash takes time to develop, test and maintain across different watches, EUCs and connected accessories. Donations help support that work and the recurring costs of services that cannot run entirely on a rider’s device, particularly:

  • the WheelDash Ride Portal, including ride storage, processing and sharing features;
  • the servers used to provide WheelDash navigation;
  • ongoing development, testing and maintenance.

Donations are voluntary. The project is not funded by advertising, and a contribution is support for the project as a whole rather than payment for a particular feature or release.

What may change in the future

The Ride Portal and navigation servers have recurring costs. These costs are currently covered during the Amazfit beta phase, but the long-term model has not been decided. The Amazfit version may eventually become freemium to help pay for these services, but its basic functionality will remain free.
