Support WheelDash development
WheelDash is independently developed and free to use, with no ads and no subscription. It is not a business: the aim is not to make money, only for the project not to cost its developer more than it already has. The Garmin versions are free and open source, and will remain so. The Amazfit app is free; its source code will be released once active development is complete. Donating does not unlock features or give anyone preferential treatment.
Why donations help
WheelDash takes time to develop, test and maintain across different watches, EUCs and connected accessories. Donations help support that work and the recurring costs of services that cannot run entirely on a rider’s device, particularly:
- the WheelDash Ride Portal, including ride storage, processing and sharing features;
- the servers used to provide WheelDash navigation;
- ongoing development, testing and maintenance.
Donations are voluntary. The project is not funded by advertising, and a contribution is support for the project as a whole rather than payment for a particular feature or release.
What may change in the future
Everything that runs on the watch, on Garmin and on Amazfit, stays free.
The Ride Portal and navigation are different: they run on servers with a monthly bill. They are free today, paid for by donations and by the developer. If donations stop covering them, these two services may ask for a contribution. It would be set to cover their running costs, never to make a profit.
